Explanation about Development Psychology

Development psychology means to understand the psychological symptoms associated with individual change. These changes are not quantitative but rather a qualitative change. Before further discussing developmental psychology menganai beforehand will be explained about the understanding of psychology. Psychology initially formulated as a discussion about the 'soul', then formulated as a discussion of 'consciousness' and the formulation of the latter are described with the understanding as a science which deals with the behavior of organisms in life.

Psychology comes from the word psyche and logos, meaning 'soul' and 'science'. Referring to science word, psychology can be defined as the science of learning about actions and human behavior in his life. Behavior that is meant here is an activity which includes the process of thinking, beremosi, and make decisions. Although activity can not be observed directly but can be predicted by the behavior appears. This behavior does not appear out of nowhere, but derived from an existing causes. The cause is not one but by a variety of interrelated causes of one another.

Someone who has a tendency to think or beremosi like now is due to the interwoven experiences, impressions, habits of mind, and beremosi since he was born-maybe even since the content-until now. Experience or the impressions are interwoven to form the causes that are difficult to be revealed one by one. Therefore, to understand an individual's behavior is very difficult. However, this needs to be done by people whose job it is mostly in contact with humans-in this case are teachers and prospective teachers.

From the above explanation of the psychology, developmental psychology has a more specific understanding that discusses the science of human behavior that is in their level of development from conception period (pre natal) to old, based on the growth, maturation, learning, and experience gained. The position of developmental psychology is a particular psychology, because particularly in view of the field investigation on existing development in humans. So that developmental psychology can be categorized as part of the science of psychology.

The benefit of studying psychological development for teachers and prospective teachers are: (1) teachers can face tetat proteges in accordance with the characteristics shown protege; (2) the teacher can choose and determine the objectives, materials, equipment, and learning strategies consistent with the level of intellectual ability students, (3) teachers can mengadapi protege correctly in helping to establish the correct behavior, and (4) teachers can avoid misconceptions about children, particularly about the diversity that affect its ability to learn.
